Alternative Spellings
Long “o” sound

There are three main ways of writing the “o” sound.

Let’s see the first example; “o-e” letter o, a blank space for a consonant, and that “e” at
the end that is called the “magic e” or “silent e”.

That makes an “o” sound as in “rose”, “mole” or “nose”.

Next up is “oa”. These two letters sound like “o”. As in “toast”, “road” or “soap”.

Lastly, is “ow”. These two letters also sound like “o”, in words like “grow”, “slow” or “snow”.

Let’s watch this video and see more examples!

Are you ready for some some blending? Here we go...

Now, let’s complete the following worksheet with the words given.
